Welcome to my social commentary about exposure and exploitation of men.
This art project evolved into a blending of serious and humorous work. The serious part is the statement to help counteract the over-exposure and exploitation of women. The humorous parts are and those sculptures with embellishments, and the names of the 100 penises! It was also challenging and fun to create these whimsical, colorful clay sculptures.

On this website, I suggest starting with the Artist’s Statement and then visiting the Photo Gallery.

"Neither venue could resist a nod to the most infamous local exhibition in recent history: Sue Long’s ceramic penises. An invoice left on a table Monday at Banyan revealed that Long’s hundreds of variegated members all have a name. (“Shock and Awe,” “Sweet Heat” and “Joystick” were among those that made the cut for this show.) When it came to Long’s bigger stuff, the custody battle must have been interesting: Banyan got the 6-foot-high, fully functional penis fountain, while Lansing Art Gallery got the multi-headed Penisaurus."

“The Penis Project;
Exposure and Exploitation of Men”

In film and the media, women’s bodies are exposed, exploited and paraded around like cattle. I have to ask: Why are women’s bodies exposed and not men’s? My intent with this exhibit is to try to equalize the experience of what women are subjected to on a regular basis.
